 Martinsburg West Virginia

Martinsburg is a city in and the county seat of Berkeley County, West Virginia. In its prime, Martinsburg had extensive rail transport and hosted many industries. In fact, the city of Martinsburg was actually considered to be a candidate for the West Virginia state capitol.  While it did not become the West Virginia capitol, it was a major transportation hub.

I decided that since I found Charleston so fascinating, why not visit Martinsburg? The Baltimore and Ohio Shops in Martinsburg have enough leftover to show you its industrial muscle. Additionally, one of its two railroad roundhouses still stands. YES, the roundhouse is on the National Register of Historic Places!

This is a DRAFT series. I will be making extensive changes. MORE pictures will be coming. Please do feel free to leave comments. You may see the original size of any picture by clicking on them. I can be contacted via e mail to discuss a fee if you want to purchase any prints.

Berkeley County Courthouse. I just love its design
